Our guides are professional and experienced. Each of them have a passion for their sports and often travel the world to experience new locations.  Our guides are experienced in first aid and all have current Wilderness First Responder certifications.

Our #1 priority is your safety followed closely by your experience. Our guides are able to customize the rock climbing and canyoneering trips to your comfort level.

Rock Odysseys was established in 2013 and is proudly one of the only woman owned and operated guide services in the USA!

Gabby Olsen

Owner | Lead Guide

Gabby has traveled all over the west and internationally for rock climbing. Her sophomore year of college she became president of the Uscend climbing club at the University of Utah, which has now grown to over three hundred members. She also organized and implemented a very successful Kid’s climbing program at one of top climbing gyms in the U.S. Gabby is extremely adept at instructing children in climbing and rappelling and has a way of making even the most heights-worried participant feel safe and confident.

Dion Obermeyer

Lead Guide

Dion has been rock climbing for 10+ years and guiding for over 6. From the big walls in Yosemite National Park to the alpine mountains of Patagonia to the limestone in Mallorca, Spain. Dion Loves it all and continues to travel to new locations during the winter months. he wants to show people of all abilities & ages that they can enjoy canyoneering & climbing.

Alyson Golub

Guide

Aly Golub first visited Southern Utah in 2016. Since then, she has traveled around the U.S. climbing in Kentucky, Colorado, West Virginia, Texas, Alaska, Tennessee, Arkansas, Nevada and Illinois before realizing she is a true desert rat and needed to return to Zion. She has worked as a guide in Southeastern Alaska and coached the youth climbing team in St. Louis. Aly continues to keep instructing climbing and canyoneering and to share her passion for the outdoors with her guests. 

Marley Nelson

Guide

Marley Nelson has lived in Utah his whole life and has been rock climbing for the past 10 years. Rock climbing is a deep passion of his. He loves sharing the experience of canyoneering & climbing with others. If he is not guiding, he is out developing new canyons, rock climbs, or taking his dog on dog adventures! If he is not outside, he is reading a sci-fi book, watching anime, or working on a new art project. He looks forward to everyday outside and is happy to take y'all out on a great adventure!

Madeleine Docherty

Guide

Madeleine Docherty was born, raised, and attended university in St. Louis, Missouri. She started rock climbing at the end of high school, and through her time at university took every spare moment to climb all over North America. She founded and coordinated the climbing team at her university, and worked as an instructor for children at a local indoor climbing facility. Through her 10+ years of climbing experience Madeleine has instructed people of all different ages and backgrounds in the sport, and has learned how to tailor her guidance to each individual so they feel safe and fearless

Matt Hebert

Guide

Matt is a Utah native. He has been rock climbing for 10 years and has a deep knowledge of climbing and canyoneering. He loves traveling to new places to climb; but his real passion is exploring new climbs and canyons in his own backyard. He has a real love for the Utah desert and showing what exciting experiences it has to offer people of all ages and abilities. 

Mark Maguire

Guide

Mark moved to the desert in 2016. He has been climbing for 15+ years and loves sharing is passing for the sport with others. In addition to climbing, you can find him base jumping, mountain biking, or taking his dog Bloom outside to play!

Diana Hall

Guide

Diana has been hooked on the desert since her very first foray into the backcountry. After finishing a BA in Outdoor Education, she moved to Zion in 2012 and has been guiding and teaching with great enthusiasm ever since. A consummate Chatty Kathy, she has a great appreciation for the unusual and is delighted to share her knowledge of the area’s quirks with her guests. In her free time, Diana enjoys all-day crafting sessions, watching movies and dissecting them afterward, and exploring all manner of places in Zion and beyond.
